"Our heartfelt thanks go to Sister Veronica for her services in the chaplaincy during the past twelve years and for the services of the Assumption sisters since the very beginning and formation of Oxford Brookes University. Sister Veronica has silently served the Lord, in and through her services in the chaplaincy. Her loss will be much felt by the university and especially the catholic community as we bid her ‘Audios, Farewell, Goodbye, Good Luck, So Long!’"

On Sunday April 29th the Church throughout the world celebrated Vocations Sunday, a day when we are asked to pray in a particular way for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

The sisters based in the motherhouse of the Religious of the Assumption in Paris marked this day in a special way, with a television broadcast of the Mass from their chapel. This was shown on 'Le Jour du Seigneur' on France2 and is now available to view on line. (It includes interviews with various Assumption sisters, particularly the community in Bondy, Paris approximately 15 minutes into the programme.)

► Visit our 'pray-with-us' page for links to the Pope's message for Vocations Sunday and a prayer for vocations.

Assumption Volunteers WYD 2013: Growing Together

You want to volunteer but only have the summer holidays…

Assumption Volunteers offers ten young adults (aged 20 to 30) the opportunity to spend the month before WYD 2013 in BRAZIL, volunteering in social action projects connected to the Assumption Sisters. Based in groups of 2, 3 or 4 you will be working among poor, young or marginalized people. This time of service will be followed by the WYD events, and then a few extra days in Rio to reflect on what you have learnt from the experience.

Three different organizations - Assumption Volunteers, CAFOD and the Salesians of Don Bosco - are working together to give young adults from the UK a choice of experience around World Youth Day 2013 in Rio.
