On Thursday 8th July Sr. Elizabeth Dove celebrated her Diamond Jubilee - 60 years of religious life!

Sr. Elizabeth is currently part of the European noviciate community in Paris. Fortunately, she was in London for her Jubilee, so many members of the English Province were able to join her and her family for Mass and a celebratory lunch in St. Catherine's community.

We thank Elizabeth for her fidelity throughout the years and pray that the Lord will continue to bless her with good health and happiness for many years ahead.

Pictures of the celebrations are below.

Sr. Muriel is the Deaf Link Person for the Wanstead parish. She describes this as "being attentive to those with hearing problems, aids that whistle! and generally being encouraging."

She recently attended the Catholic Deaf Association: Southeast regional conference, the theme of which was 'The Road to Emmaus'.

Her account of the conference, illustrated by some beautiful photos taken by John Davies, can be read below.

For 3 months over the summer 15 Assumption sisters from 10 different countries are meeting in our motherhouse in Paris for a session in preparation for final vows. This includes Sr. Cathy from the Kensington community, who writes to describe some of the highlights of the first few weeks.
“I feel very blessed to have this time away from my normal busy schedule to have 3 months where to the priority is prayer and having the time to reflect and to learn. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet my sisters from all over the world; it’s quite something to hear first hand about religious life in Africa or India and to realise that despite all the differences from life in Europe we are united by the same Spirit and are a true family.”

“We’ve had so many special experiences so far I can’t describe them all, but the photos below, often full of smiling sisters, speak for themselves.”

This last weekend Kensington enjoyed a short visit from the Provincials of our European Provinces - Srs Josianne of 'Europe du Nord' (Belgium, Lithuania and Denmark), Françoise of France, Patrizia of Italy and Carmen of Spain. Although they spent a lot of time in meetiongs with our own Sr Simon, we were happy that they managed a couple of little outings - to Westminster Cathedral and Abbey and on Sunday to Oxford where after a whistle stop tour of the sites, they had tea with our Oxford community.
