Message from Sr Jessica r.a. for Earth Day
The last year or so has seen a dramatic increase in the number of extreme weather events: droughts, floods and cyclones. This is a wake up call to us all. April 22nd is Earth Day, a day to look back and remind ourselves of this as well as to look to the future with courage. Along with Pope Francis let us ask God to make us `responsible guardians of creation’.

A prayer for Earth Day inspired by Mayan spirituality
Many native peoples remind of us of what could be a just relationship to the Earth, full of respect, love and even reverence.
The JPIC (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation) commission of the English Province of the Religious of the Assumption began their meeting today with a meditation inspired by Mayan spirituality.
The Mayan Indian would come in procession from east (represented by red), west (represented by black), north (represented by white) and south (represented by yellow).
In the Mayan's picture of the universe the world is divided into these four parts in the form of a cross... We set out together... for the same adventure, we form a community with all the beings on the earth.
Let all creation praise the Lord!
